TOEFL Overview

The Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) is a globally recognized exam that measures English language proficiency for academic, professional, and immigration purposes. Test Format

The TOEFL iBT consists of four sections:

  1. Reading (54–72 minutes)
    • 3–4 academic texts with 10 questions each.
  2. Listening (41–57 minutes)
    • Lectures, conversations, and discussions with 28–39 questions.
  3. Speaking (17 minutes)
    • 4 tasks where you express opinions and discuss topics based on reading and listening.
  4. Writing (50 minutes)
    • 2 tasks, including writing an essay and summarizing information.

Scoring

  • Each section is scored from 0 to 30, with a total score range of 0 to 120.
  • Most institutions require scores between 70–100, depending on their requirements.
