Education in Australia
There are 43 universities in Australia, of which 2 (Bond and Notre Dame) are private. In addition, Adelaide, South Australia, is home to campuses for Carnegie Mellon and University College London. We classify these universities as non-Australian since their major campuses and administrative centers are located in Pennsylvania, the United States, and London, the United Kingdom, respectively.
Numerous Australian universities have branch campuses abroad, twinning agreements, and international exchange programs for students and faculty. Around 7000 agreements between Australian universities and universities (and other similar institutions worldwide) exist.
Universities in Australia play three main roles:
- Retaining information
- Teaching others new things
- Developing knowledge
